What’s In My Hospital Bag

We’re officially less than a week away from baby girl’s due date next Tuesday and this time around I’m just a little late on the whole hospital bag packing. But with our toddler having the flu this month, things on my to-do list in regards to preparing for baby #2 got put on hold for a little bit. I did the majority of packing about two weeks out, but have a few last minute things to grab when it’s actually time to go (make sure you have a list ready!).

Since this will be my second time around I thought I could provide a list with things I know were helpful during my first delivery, recovery, and hospital stay. The average length for a hospital here in Texas are 2 nights for a vaginal delivery, three for a c-section. Here is what im packing for me, baby, and other helpful things during your recovery (will link some favorites/ items I’m bringing):

For mom:

  • loose fitted, button up pj’s
  • light robe
  • flip flops/ slippers
  • dark underwear (size up)
  • nursing bra, nursing pads
  • nursing top

  • joggers/ sweat pants
  • warm socks
  • going home outfit (maternity)

    • essential make up products
    • shampoo, conditioner, body wash
    • tooth brush, tooth paste
    • dry shampoo
    • make up remover wipes
    • body lotion
    • lip balm
    • nipple balm
    • hair ties
    • deodorant
    • razor

  • sleep mask
  • extra pillow
  • large towel
  • maxi pads
  • pain relieving spray
  • perineal cold pack
  • medicated pads (with witch hazel)
  • glasses/ contacts

I hope my list can help provide some guidance and help for any first time moms, or partners. If you have any additional items you recommend bringing I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Also hoping my next post will be post baby and the little lady will hurry up and get here already. It’s funny how you’re pregnant for so many months, weeks and those last few days you feel so close to giving up (as if it were an option to quit lol). But any other soon to be mama’s hang in there, you’re almost there. Just think of your reward of holding your sweet little bundle of joy! You’ve made it so far and your body is designed to guide you through this journey of bringing your baby into this world!

xoxo, Lisa
